Kevin Doepp, founder of Crack of the Bat, has had a life-long love of baseball. He grew up on Long Island, New York, where his passion began and found every way to be able to play the game, even in the cold. From there, he moved onto play in high school and eventually, at the collegiate level at Virginia Wesleyan University in Norfolk, Virginia.
After starting a family and coaching his son and daughter, he realized his passion was still there, and that it was time to live out his dream to make baseball his career.
What began as a few lessons a week, has grown into over 60 lessons a week at his facility in Garner, North Carolina. Crack of the Bat now has two showcase baseball teams and runs multiple hitting clinics each month. Summer camps for both baseball and softball are also available and give an opportunity for local children to learn from Kevin and experience his methods to not only teach the proper hitting mechanics but also to engage the mental focus required to be a good hitter.
